Major Professor
Program
- Ph.D., Environmental Toxicology
Education
- B.A., Biology, Summa Cum Laude, St. Mary's College of Maryland, St. Mary's City, Maryland, 2003
Research Description
- My research focuses on assessing the health status of endangered and critically threatened populations of sea turtles found along the coasts of Mexico. More specifically, I am interested in the bioaccumulation and detoxification of halogenated organic compounds, in 4 species of sea turtles occupying different trophic levels. The overall aim of my research is to provide critical knowledge to connect toxic effects of such compounds to sea turtle population decline so that conservation managers have a better basis for mitigation of the threat that pollution places on sea turtles.
