Financial & Fellowship Support from Grad Division
Applicants who submit a completed application for Fall, before December 1, this academic will be given first consideration for financial / fellowship support from the Graduate Division. Applications reviewed after December 1 will be considered for fellowship awards, subject to availability of unallocated funds after the initial round of applications have been reviewed.

Albert Marsh ENSC Scholarship
Purpose: To cover student expenses from a variety of activities, including attending
professional meeting, participating in workshops to enhance their research, meeting with
collaborators to facilitate the start, continuation, or completion of a particular project. Priority
will be given to those applications that show a strong educational and/or research component
and show that the activity achieves the highest probability of the successful transfer of
information pertaining to the student’s research and/or educational objectives in environmental
sciences.
Amount: The maximum award is $2000.
Eligibility: Students must have good standing as a graduate student whose advisor is a
faculty member in the Department of Environmental Sciences. If attending a professional
meeting, students are expected to present their research. Students are limited to a total of
$2000 during their time in the Department.
Deadline: This academic year or until the annual allotment is disbursed.

George and Hilda Liebig Environmental Science Scholarship for Undergraduate Excellence
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to graduate students in good standing during the
summer months. It is expected that 3 or more awards will be made in Summer.
Amount: The maximum award is $3,300.
Deadline: June 10th, this academic year
Eligibility: For graduate students in good standing and who meet at least one of the following
conditions:
- A graduate student in the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program.
- A graduate student whose advisor is a graduate faculty member in the Environmental Sciences
Graduate Program.

Frank T. Bingham Memorial Fellowship in Soil Science
Purpose: Graduate students in the Department of Environmental Sciences are encouraged to
apply for the Frank T. Bingham Memorial Fellowship in Soil Science. The award will enable
students to pursue short-term specialized training at other government, university, or private
facilities and will cover expenses during the current academic year.
Amount: The maximum award is $2000.
Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing in a program leading toward a
graduate degree in Soil and Water Sciences. They must obtain approval of their major professor and a written invitation to pursue the training under the direction of a mentor at their institution.
The fellowship will be viewed not merely as a travel and expense fund to use a specific piece of
equipment but must demonstrate an educational component with an identifiable mentor. -
Stolzey-Letey Environmental Science Scholarship
Purpose: To supplement the income that the recipient is earning through work to meet
educational expenses.
Eligibility: Current Environmental Science graduate student during the current academic year.
A minimum 3.0 GPA and evidence of employment currently, or within the past 12 months, are
required. Students are not eligible for this award if they have previously received funding
through this Scholarship.
Amount: $1,250 for the current academic year
Information: Applications will be reviewed in the first week of the month following the
application date and award winners announced in the second week. By applying, the applicant

Stolzy-Letey Environmental Science Travel Scholarship:
Purpose: To assist in expenses for a student to make a poster or oral presentation at the Soil
Science of America (SSSA) annual meeting.
Eligibility: Planning to attend and present at the SSSA annual meeting. Students must have
good standing as either an undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of
Environmental Sciences.
Amount: Reimbursement of Expenses (Within California, Arizona, Nevada: $250 per person
Within the US but outside California, Arizona, Nevada: $500 per person). Note travel advances
are possible.
Deadline: May 31st, each year
Information: In the event that a recipient of this scholarship does not attend the SSSA annual
meetings, the other submitted applications will be reviewed accordingly. Reimbursement
amounts follow UCR Campus Policy. By submitting an application, the applicant agrees to allow

Terracon Foundation Environmental Sciences Scholarship
Purpose: To provide environmental sciences research scholarship funds to graduate
students. It is expected that 1 award will be made in Winter 2025.
Amount: The maximum award is $2500.
Deadline: January 30 this academic yearEligibility: For graduate students in good standing and who meet at least one of the following
conditions:
- A graduate student in the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program.
- A graduate student whose advisor is a graduate faculty member in the Environmental Sciences
Graduate Program.
Background: Terracon is an employee-owned engineering consulting firm with more than
5,500 employees providing environmental, facilities, geotechnical and materials services from
more than 175 locations with services in all 50 states. Terracon Foundation was established
with a goal to reach out and become a real part of the lives of Terracon employees and the
communities where they live and work.

Graduate Student and Postdoc Excellence Awards
The purpose of the graduate student and postdoc excellence awards is to formally recognize, honor, and celebrate outstanding research, teaching, outreach and service accomplishments by graduate students and postdocs within the Department of Environmental Sciences. These awards are provided once on an annual basis as long as departmental funds permit. All nominations are faculty-initiated (no self-nominations nor peer-nominations allowed). Awards are limited to one award per category per student during their graduate/postdoc careers within the ENSC Department. The applications should be submitted no later than the end of April in order to provide a sufficient amount of time to collect nominations, review/rank nominations, and distribute funds before the end of the spring quarter (e.g., mid-to-late May) of each year.
